I played for an hour through pages 1-12, creating melodies, improvising with chord tones and scale tones. It was relaxing and satisfying.
Next week my lessons with tweens and teens will be infused with some of this. I'd like my students to experience this relaxed feeling and I think this is a way to get there.
I grew up in a home with a piano...sometimes 2 pianos! I took piano lessons, practised, performed, played in musical ensembles, participated in musical family nights, played duets with friends, accompanied all varieties of musicians and singers. I started teaching piano at the age of 13.
The piano has been my friend, my enemy, my solace, my nemesis... almost like another sibling! My piano is a part of my being and probably my well-being.
Is there a piano in your family? Let's talk piano!
